This past weekend when I traveled up to B.C. for Howloween (great time, BTW), I was made aware of something I didn't know about all the times I've been up there....Poutine! A popular, Canadian "comfort" food I found that it's found in most restaurants, including the fast-food chains (i.e. A&W, Burger King, etc.). I tried some when I went with Orwin, mousepaws, and Pikachu to Boston Pizza for lunch last Sunday and it was YUMMY! So when I got home, I thought I'd try making it myself....while the recipe calls for (in addition to fries) cheddar cheese curds and brown gravy, I was unable to find the cheese curds at Fred Meyer (its probably at the specialty food stores like Trader Joes), I decided to risk punishment by improvising my own version using shreded mozzerella and roast turkey gravy. I cooked the fries, zapped some of the gravy (out of a jar) in the microwave, and put a bunch of the cheese on the fries, hot out of the oven. Then I poured on the gravy and ....mmmm it turned out wonderful! Although, the melted mozzerella did make it sort of gooey, it tasted great!
I wonder if this could be used as a "side dish" for Thanksgiving? *Thinking out loud*
